New Year's Eve Pictures

Skating in St. Pete

I think this is one of those container sailboats that have a really narrow beam and can be put into a container ship.

Boat show was sweet.

We had a great time this year as usual. Lisa was asked by Bob Bichin to help chuck a bunch of kookiness into the crowd as I sat in the lone chair we both shared. The party see,Ed a bit more under control this year compared to last year,

We blew off the Sat sail and headed out for an early Sunday sail. The night previous, I had to make a night run to a 24 hour Walgreens to pick up ear plugs for theAmiral and SnoreEez so she could sleep.

We started releasing the binding lines and I fired up the iron genny. Got an overheat shriek alarm, shut down, waited a few minutes and realized we should go. We decided to do some scrubbing to remove bird droppings and that is when we did a MOB Drill for the brush Lisa lost. It is still lost.

A good time was had by all.

Tx cat race

Texas Beach Cat Race from Galveston to South Padre

It would have been quite an experience to take our old Getaway and made this race, but feel we would have had our butts kicked. I think these guys are pretty serious.

Rich sailors

Rich Sailors

Great point made about people out there sailing on a shoestring budget. I like the idea about the main character of this story, a professor, biching about lowlifes getting in his way. Kismet will dictate his fate when he is out on the water and he runs into trouble and some lowlife has to save his sorry behind.

Cruising Outpost

Looks like Bob was shafted by the owners he sold his magazine Lats and Ats to and has to start all over again. How do people sleep when they screw people out of their life and dreams?

I know the feeling Bob.

Flying the Jolly Roger

3SUM with Lisa and Lisa

Lisa, that be my wifey, facebooked our old Nowthen neighbor who now lives in Largo, FL to see if she wanted to take a shot at sailing. She said yes and showed up as we pulled up to the pier. We loaded everything up and headed out without nary a problem. We had about 12 knots top wind, otherwise, we just did slightly more than bobbed and caught up with all the social activities back in Nowthen.

We headed back and even with the extra docking help, I managed to pilot into our slip like a drunken elephant. I wish our finger pier was a little longer than 2 feet. Whoever designed these docks definitely never had a boat. These are pretty lame affairs and our light boat is a pain to come into the slip. We need some ideas for coming in better.

Besides the bad docking on my part, I think "a good time was had by all."

3SUM with her shiny new bottom painted

3SUM had her bottom painted and is looking pretty good. Lisa was taking the pictures as I motored over to pick her up at the fuel dock. I wish people would just get their gas and go, instead of having a picnic in front of the fuel dock. Lisa had to make quite a jump to get into the boat. We went out and had little to no wind, but 3SUMs new bottom really sped things along.

Regata del Sol al Sol

Regata del Sol al Sol

Yeah, this is definitely cool. I wish we would have known about this because it would have been great to go out into the bay and watch them take off. Maybe have 3Sum dog them for awhile.

Today's sail

This big old plane buzzed us on the way to MacDill AFB.

This knucklehead in a big powerboat with his girlfriend he was trying to impress came right at our bow and at the last minute, veered and roared away. Tampa Bay is pretty big so he had plenty of room to avoid us. What a knob.

Not a good deal of wind. Stayed around 5-8 k. We managed to snag a crabpot and that was the big excitement. We finally added the right shackle to the mainsail and had much better sailshape. Probably are going to need to get the hull cleaned as it was pretty filthy with marine growth.

Bit of a Nasty 3.4 foot short Chop with 16 k gusting to 26 knots

The racers didn't seem to mind, but it seemed their markers kept moving - or we did. We had to sail through their fleet a couple times.

After sailing, we had Cheese WOW! Not only was it delicious on a triscuit - it was also a Great Value! TheTriscuit B*ch enjoyed this.
