ELIZABETH CITY: Coast Guard rescues 4 from sailboat off coast - WNCN: News, Weather, Raleigh, Durham, Fayetteville

SOUTHPORT, N.C. -
The Coast Guard rescued four people from a damaged sailboat 60 miles off the coast of Bald Head Island near Southport, N.C.
Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Command Center in Portsmouth received an alert around 6 p.m. Saturday from an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon from the 40-foot White Trimaran Trio, from Pensacola, Florida, after the vessel's sails were damaged by winds.
The Coast Guard issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched a rescue helicopter from Air Station Elizabeth City, according to a press release from the Coast Guard.
The U.S. Navy also responded by sending a helicopter from the USS George H.W. Bush to help find the vessel.
Both helicopter crews arrived at the damaged vessel around 8:15 p.m. which was 60 miles southeast of Bald Head Island.
Coast Guard crews hoisted Frank W. Rawley, 54, Douglas Rider, 58, Lorette Medwel, 55 and a 14-year-old boy from the boat and flew them to Air Station Elizabeth City where they are listed in good condition.
